A natural leader, she served as Executive Director of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Greenville, co-founded the Delta Hot Tamale Festival, and became the first female president of the Greenville Rotary Club. She played a key role in establishing the Greenville Higher Education Center, bringing university-level classes to the city and expanding educational opportunities for local students.

Beyond her leadership roles, Betty Lynn was a tireless volunteer, serving on numerous boards including the Greenville Public Schools Advisory Board, United Way, Red Cross, Boys & Girls Club, and the Greenville Police Department Advisory Board. Her dedication to service earned her many accolades, including Greenville Rotary Club Volunteer of the Year, the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award, and Delta State University’s Alumnus of the Year.

Despite battling rheumatoid arthritis, she remained unwavering in her advocacy, even lobbying in Washington, D.C. for arthritis awareness. Her commitment to Greenville and its people was unparalleled, and her passion for education and service continues to inspire.
